Tension Releasing Body
Build Your Physical Wisdom Foundation: Release Chronic Muscle Tension & Move With Ease
Muscular tension is a certainty in life.
What’s challenging is when it becomes chronic / habitual …
The intent is to take you on a journey of self-discovery and to empower you through improving your Physical Wisdom. This therapeutic program is built upon foundational movement principles and combines breath-work, somatic movement, fascial release, and meditative practices. When cultivated, these practices release the underlying cause(s) of chronic tension, which are often hiding deep within your body and mind.

We recommend this program as the first step in the Movement Monk practice. It is designed to build strong mind-body foundations for both beginners and anyone transitioning from more mainstream physical exercise.
The more equipment you need when taking care of your body, the more distracting it can be from feeling what’s really causing tension to hang around. Discover how to deeply strengthen and relax your body, without the need for equipment (like foam rollers, or those annoying latex bands), gym memberships, or manual physical therapy.
I’ve personally walked the path to heal a debilitating spinal injury. Since then I have guided hundreds of others to overcome complex injuries and physical / mental / emotional challenges. In the Tension Releasing Body (TRB) course I’ll be by your side every step of the way, guiding you with video lessons, activities, insights and discussions.
We don’t just focus on physical training. The TRB practice honors that your mind and body are deeply connected. You will discover how to bring harmony at a physical, mental and emotional level. As you do this, you will enhance your physical performance, posture, and movement quality, so you can adapt more easily for any activity.
EXPLORATIVE MOVEMENT PRACTICE TO DEEPEN YOUR PHYSICAL WISDOM
The process of deepening your Physical Wisdom is all about getting to know your unique body better through explorative movement practice. If you find yourself stuck when it comes to knowing what your body needs, or how to respond to the signals it’s giving you. Or you’re confused with all the conflicting health and fitness information out there, you’ll find clarity and confidence as you improve your Physical Wisdom.
To improve your Physical Wisdom, practice your movement in an explorative way and embody these three elements:
If you can’t hear the whispers of your body, they’ll eventually become screams. When you have a quiet mind (without being constantly bombarded by thoughts) you can more easily listen and respond to the needs of your body.
The more often your body is relaxed the easier it is to feel what’s going on deep inside, and the better it moves. The better you get at relaxing, the more you can feel inefficiencies in your movement.
An open heart allows you to be more at peace with what you’re experiencing in the present moment, which is important to build your wisdom and allow new experiences with your body.
A major factor between you and deeper levels of Physical Wisdom is habitual muscular tension, which acts like a wall that blocks your ability to hear and respond to the more subtle signals your body is giving in each passing moment. As you become more aware of the wisdom of your body, you become more empowered to take care of your own body, and less reliant on needing someone else to fix it for you.
FREE YOURSELF FROM THE PAIN TREATMENT CYCLE
Are you stuck in this cycle?
For lasting tension release you need to get your mind and body working together in harmony.
If you’re experiencing poor posture, niggling injuries and joint pain, it’s often because your mind and body have conflicting needs. This leads to tension building up and your body being pulled out of its natural alignment as you move throughout your day.
The process of releasing this tension is not just about your body. That’s why physical focused therapies like massage, a trip to the physiotherapist, or chiropractor rarely works out to give you sustainable release in your body.
When it comes to releasing tension for the long term you need to go deeper, to get to the source of what’s causing tension within your body and mind.
To do this you need a daily practice that builds specific qualities, and supports you to safely explore your body-mind connection.
THREE QUALITIES YOU WILL DEVELOP WITH THE TENSION RELEASING BODY PRACTICE
If you’ve ever watched a graceful dancer, martial artist or animal, and marvelled at the way they move, you may notice it’s a blend of physical qualities that leads to their performance. But when it comes to actually moving like they do, it’s harder than it looks, especially if tension, pain and postural imbalances are binding your body up and restricting it from moving freely.
So… how do you move with the grace of a dancer, power of a martial artist, and instincts of a wild animal? Do you throw in some stretches after your workout, get a massage to relax, or go to a Yoga class? Sure, this may help a little, but more often than not, the same tensions and pains that restrict your body from moving freely keep showing up.
To experience lasting release of tension and pain and move with a greater sense of freedom, you need these three basic mind-body qualities:
CLICK THE HEADINGS TO LEARN MORE …
Feeling is healing: The better your feeling and awareness of what’s happening beneath your skin, the better you can release your physical restrictions. Without deep body perception, you’re just guessing when it comes to releasing tension and improving the way your body moves. Building awareness during movement is where most physical practices and therapies fall short.
You need a balance of relaxation and strength for your movements to be fluid. Without relaxation your strength leads to rigidity and tension. Most programs focus on isolated strength, by just using your muscles. In the Tension Releasing Body practice you’ll go deeper, and learn how to access your fascia system to build relaxed whole body strength in a wide range of movements. It’s a case of many hands make light work that results in you feeling stronger without tension holding your body back.
Flexibility without stability can lead to hyper-mobile joints, making you vulnerable to injury. When your body is stable in the range of motion you move in, you feel strong and flexible at the same time. This quality ensures you feel safe in your movements, which also prevents the build up of tension and pain. In the TRB course you’ll learn how to go beyond just stretching to increase your mobility and physical freedom.
DISCOVER MASTER PRINCIPLES FOR BETTER MOVEMENT QUALITY
We’ve built the Tension Releasing Body on foundational mind-body principles to empower you with the tools you need to take care of your body for the rest of your life. Principles give you the knowledge to fish, rather than you relying on someone to regularly feed you fish.
As you explore the TRB practice you’ll improve your performance of essential basics of movement. As you build on your basics and gradually improve your ability to move in more complex ways, you’ll gain a set of mind-body skills that will continue to support you for your lifetime.
IMPROVE THE BASICS OF MOVEMENT TO FEEL MORE AT EASE IN YOUR BODY
One of the absolute basics of movement is being able to relax as you stand. If you haven’t mastered this basic movement, chances are you’re using more effort than you need to align your body. This can result in more and more tension building up throughout your day. In the Tension Releasing Body practice you’ll discover basic movement principles, like sinking your weight.
Here’s how it works:
Once you learn how to relax and sink your weight in basic movements like standing, you can gradually apply skills like this to more complex movement situations. Most fitness programs completely miss this aspect of training, which leads you to eventually getting stuck.
Meet Your Instructor
Hey, Benny Fergusson here,
I loved sports and being active as a kid. My body supported me to play elite level volleyball, ride motorbikes, skateboard and just generally have fun. Until I injured my spine in a freak accident.
From that day I couldn’t stand up straight or walk down the street without feeling in agony. Chronic tension was acting like a restrictive layer that was present when I performed any physical activity.
Since then, I’ve spent most of my life exploring ancient mind-body practices, martial and healing arts, to discover how to unbind and liberate the human body and mind. Today I understand how to connect with the wisdom of my body and I’m looking forward to sharing this profound practice with you.
Over the years I’ve worked with hundreds of people to support them to release tension from their bodies, so they can not only perform better physically, but also mentally and emotionally.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
TRB is built on the principles that make many forms of restorative exercise work (like Yoga and Tai Chi).
The difference is you don’t have to learn tons of forms, or poses / asanas.
It teaches you how to relax more in any movement, so you can use the practice to improve every activity you love.
Massages stop working at best a couple of days after your treatment, and rely on the hands of the therapist to give you relief.
With TRB practice you’ll learn how to give yourself the benefits of massage and how to make it last.
Of course! The principles you’ll discover in TRB work to enhance your ability to relax in any movement, which makes them complimentary to any other type of training.
The TRB practice is highly scalable depending on what you’d like to get out of it.
If you’re just beginning you can get great benefits from as little as 15 mins per session.
Even if you’re advanced you won’t need to practice for more than 45 mins spread throughout your day.
You’ll learn foundational movement principles that utilise breath-work, somatic movement, fascial release, and meditative practices.
You’ll learn the underlying foundations of relaxed movement, rather than a ton of different movement patterns.
It doesn’t matter what shape you’re in to begin this practice.
TRB will teach you how to identify your appropriate level to start and how to progress gradually.
If you’ve got an injury it will guide you to understand why it happened in the first place and how to heal it.
The TRB practice gives you the principles to release habitual tension so your body can align and move better in any movement you choose.
When your body holds less tension in a given movement, there’s less to hold back your performance.
It’s a case of less = more.
