Love Stories from Movement Monk Students
Here’s some stories from people who’ve worked with us – the Movement Monk(eys). You won’t find cheesey before and after pictures here. Just mind-body growth and transformations, from real people.
‘I WAS IN CONSTANT PAIN, EVERY DAY’
“Pain in my abdomen and lower back was distracting me from the things I love in life, like hanging with my friends and playing music. After practicing TRB I woke up one day and the pain was just gone! I hope to live a long life and I feel the TRB practice is 100% supporting me to do that.”

Some beautiful explorations from kneeling spinal waves and beyond from @jonathanmead MOVE YOUR SPINE ? Mine is a work in progress, but I love moving my spine and exploring the range of motion I have access to. I'm working on smoothing things out and opening up my lower spine, which is the most clunky section for me. ? Thankfully the work I'm doing with the Tension Release Technique from @bennyfergusson is helping me open new ranges and release years of built up tension. ? Have you uncaged your spine lately? Give it some love. ❤️?? #tensionrelease #movementmonk #mindbodymedicine
How Daniel improved his posture and digestion with the Tension Releasing Body practice
“I needed to re-think what health and wellness is all about.
With the Tension Release practice I’ve been able to tap into a deeper connection with my body.”
How Adam (wheelchair tennis champion) did the longest walk of his life – without his previous agonising pain
I did the longest walk of my life yesterday, a 7.5km hike in the Blue Mountains. The previous max distance I’d covered was 5.5km back in 2012 way before I met Benny.
After that 5.5km hike, the next morning I woke up in absolute agony, I could hardly move let alone walk. I’ve been working with Benny now for almost 2 years and the change in my body has been profound. I knew the difference was big but I didn’t realise quite how big until this morning, I was expecting to wake up pretty stiff and sore after walking so far, nope.
After my morning meditation and movement session I feel great and ready to hit the ground running. Benny, there are no words to express how grateful I am for you and the work you do, can’t wait to continue the journey and take it to the next level

Completed the longest hike of my life yesterday, won’t sound like much to some but I’m damn proud to complete 7.5km. I’ve come a long way and it’s just a fraction of what’s to come. I’m training my walking for a very good reason which I’m not ready to announce yet but stay tuned and remember that you’re capable of so much more than you think you are. You are only limited by what you think you can do. If you think you can or if you think you can’t, you’re right. Peace ✌️
How Stephen discovered how to move in ways he never thought possible
From Benny’s teachings I’ve been able to achieve so many different movements I never thought possible, like the muscle-up and handstand. Without his endless support and superb teaching approach, none of this would’ve been achievable.
Benny’s opened my eyes to a new world of possibilities, and to look beyond just lifting weights. Benny not only has the ability to get you moving better and feeling stronger, he has also helped me mentally and gives you insightful knowledge. I’m so privileged to have not only an incredible mentor but also a great friend.

Amanda expanded her mobility and became more grounded in her Yoga practice
“The changes that come from the Tension Release practice can seem subtle at times, yet they are incredibly profound.
When intentionally practiced, they help this hypersensitive, loving, wild woman stay grounded and in her heart.”
Sandie bounced back to better movement after a hip replacement
After being diagnosed with breast cancer and having a hip replacement …
Today I am a different person. My ability to move now is probably better than it ever was and in observing those around me, much better than a lot of women my age and a lot better than some much younger than I am. Benny and the Movement Monk approach has also allowed me to enjoy my Tai Chi more.

Alex improved his body awareness for better martial arts
Since practicing your teachings I can feel the hemispheres of my body and mind coming into a connected balance.

Florian learned how to move freely with the Embodied Flexibility program
Bridget strengthened her feet and became free of orthotics
Benny’s balance principles alone of how to walk, and being conscious of this all the time when standing & walking has made a huge difference. This is the first summer in about 5 Years when I’ve been able to wear little minimalist sandals & ballet flats without ugly orthotics, and without any pain. It’s amazing! Thank you.

Dr Rao improved his strength and posture for better running
I met Benny when training for my first half marathon. I was impressed by his multifaceted approach to the simple act of running. Apart from increasing core strength and posture, he gave me some excellent exercises that helped me train for the big run.
